To remove tarnish from sterling, put 1 teaspoon of salt a small bowl of hot water. Cover the bottom of the bowl using aluminum foil. Let it stay in there until all the tarnish comes off. For polish use old fashioned toothpaste. Using toothpaste, rub the silver sterling well, then using a dry piece of wet cloth remove the toothpaste from the silver necklace.
