If during dna sequencing all the bands on an electrophoresis gel are the same color is it true that the single stranded dna sample consisted of one fragment?
False. Typically gel electrophoresis is done using a fluorescent stain, so all DNA glows the same color. It's the fragment length (or distance traveled) that differentiates fragments. The smaller of the fragments travels through the electric field fast (the bottom fragments in this picture), while the larger ones travel slowly. ChaCha!
