If ovarian cancer runs through my dad's side of the family, is there still a chance I can have it?

Ovarian Cancer If ovarian cancer is present on your dad's side of the family, there is a chance that you could develop this disease at some point. Since each parent contributes 50 percent of the genetic material to their child, you have received part of your father's genetic attributes. This includes a higher risk for ovarian cancer.
