If you gauge your ears to 1/2 inch do the close up?
The stopping point in ear gauging of no return is said to be 1/2 an inch or known as 14mm. Once they are removed they will shrink some, but will never close up. Cosmetic surgery would be required to close them.

About Ear Gauge
Gauging is the same thing as stretching ears. Typically when an ear is stretched, it is done on the lobe. However, people can stretch any piercing. In terms of the actual gauge, the smaller the number of a gauge, the bigger the jewelery. Up to size 00, the ear will heal fully once the jewelery is removed.
