If you have a social security number, can you still be an illegal immigrant?

No, illegal immigrants cannot have a social security number. Illegal immigrants may apply for a tax identification number from the IRS (used to pay taxes when you don't have a Social Security Number) and some may use that in place of a social, but that number cannot be used legally to work with or get other services requiring a social security number.
