In the novel Frankenstein, Victor advises the character of Captain Walton. In the beginning of Frankenstein, Captain Walton writes a letter to Mrs. Saville. In this letter he recalls the words of Victor Frankenstein, “You seek for knowledge and wisdom, as I once did; and I ardently hope that the gratification of your wishes may not be a serpent to sting you, as mine has been”. Frankenstein was giving Walton a warning. He didn’t want the Captain to follow in his footsteps of despair and misfortunes. ChaCha!
