Is a fish an amphibian?

Rate This Answer

Amphibians live part of their life in water and part on land. Even those species that lay eggs on land start life in a fluid-filled egg, breathing through gills. A fish is any gill-bearing aquatic (water dwelling) vertebrate (or craniate) animal that lacks limbs with digits. Amphibious fish are fish that are able to leave water for extended periods of time. These fish use a range of terrestrial locomotory modes, such as lateral undulation, tripod-like walking and jumping to travel on land.

Nearly all amphibians live the first part of their lives in water and the second part on land. Thanks for using ChaCha.

No, fish are not considered amphibians. Fish are aquatic vertebrate animals that are typically ectothermic. ChaCha again!
