About Sexually Transmitted Disease
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are diseases, viruses and parasites transmitted through fluid exchange, or occurring through sexual contact between humans. Other names for STDs include venereal disease (VD) and sexually transmitted infections (STI). The term STI is currently the preferred term as it includes a broader range of diseases, including infections transmitted through the sharing of needles used for intravenously injected drugs. Sexually transmitted infections can be passed from person to person without showing any signs of infection or disease.
