About Cholera
Cholera is a waterborne infection of the small intestine caused by a bacterium called Vibrio cholerae. The symptoms are profuse diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The severity of loose stool and vomiting can cause rapid severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and death. Primary treatment is with either oral or intravenous solutions that facilitate rehydration.
