Is eczema hereditary?

Rate This Answer

Eczema is considered to be "often hereditary." Eczema consists of rough, itchy, scaly skin that often cracks in areas of motion. The hereditary form of eczema is called Atopic Dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is actually located on the same gene that includes asthma and hay fever. This tendency toward atopy typically surfaces during early childhood.
