Is ew an onomatopoeia?

Answer

Susan Cantrell

An onomatopoeia is a word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound that it describes. "Ew" would not fit that description because it doesn't suggest a source. Animal noises like "oink" and "moo" would fit the description for onomatopoeia.
