About Psychiatrist
Psychiatrists specialize in treating mental illness and disorders. Unlike psychologists, psychiatrists can prescribe medications for the disorders. The professional practice of psychiatry began with Sigmund Freud, but the 'talking cure' that he developed has fallen out of fashion and medications are more commonly used than psychotherapy to 'cure' mental illness.

Medicine is the science of healing, and encompasses a large number of health care practices to maintain and restore health by treating and ultimately preventing illness. This is accomplished through a variety of means, educating the public on how to stay healthy, diagnosing disease when it comes around, and then treating it through holistic therapies, modern medications and surgery. Medicinal practitioners are also skilled at treating and diagnosing injury, which may use some of the same techniques used to diagnose disease.

Doctors are here to make people healthier. When people get sick the doctor’s job is to figure out why. They examine people, listen to them describe their health problems, and do tests to see what is wrong. They give people medicine and other kinds of treatment. They also give advice about diet, exercise, and sleep.
