Is it bad if birkenstocks get wet?

Rate This Answer

Classic Birkenstock sandals aren't intended for wearing in the water, surf etc. Aside from the buckles corroding, the glues used in construction are water based, and may lose adherence. If they do become immersed in salt water, rinse them in fresh water, and allow them to dry in the shade. Sure, they may get wet from time to time, and this doesn't present a problem.
