Is it safe to give a cat cough syrup?
If the cough is not too severe you can use a guaifenesin-based cough syrup. If guaifenesin is not enough to control the cough you can put them on the narcotic cough suppressant, Hycodan. ChaCha!

About Cough Syrup
Cough syrup is an everyday remedy to help you stop coughing so much. For dry coughs/unproductive coughs, or coughs that don't help you hack up mucus, antitussives would probably be the best bet. If your coughs are productive, ie helping you expel that nasty mucus an expectorant is your best bet. Use cough syrup only as directed on the side of the bottle. If your cough doesn't get any better after a few days, see your doctor.
