Is it true that the caduceus became a medical symbol when it was put on ambulances during World War two?
The caduceus is mistakenly used as a symbol of medicine in the US instead of the correct rod of Asclepius, popularized largely as a result of the adoption of the caduceus as its insignia by the US Army medical corps in 1902 at the insistence of a single officer. Thanks for using ChaCha!
