Liver disease causes more deaths in type 2 diabetics than cardiovascular disease. The liver diseases that can occur in diabetics include nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, cirrhosis of the liver and hepatocellular carcinoma. A study done by The National Institutes of Health found that those who have diabetes are twice as likely to have a liver disease as well. ChaCha away!

Liver Disease is a blanket term describing any number of diseases that affect the liver. They include hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, cancer, and primary biliary cirrhosis. Many liver diseases are accompanied by jaundice and an increased level of bilirubin, which results from the breakup of hemoglobin of dead red blood cells. Normally the liver removes bilirubin and excretes it through bile.
