Yes because a band can be in a competition. Also you can get a varsity jacket and letter for band too.

Though technically marching bands do fit the criteria to consider it a sport, it is not traditionally thought to be one. ChaCha!

Some say its demanding so there might be an argument but most consider it a hobby.

I don't consider it a sport. They do compete against other bands, but ratings are based on music, form, precision, not physical.
