Is pilates a type of yoga?
No, Pilates is resistance exercise, not aerobic, and is performed with specially designed spring-loaded apparatus. It was originally designed in the 1920's as a means of rehabilitation by it's creator Joseph Pilates (1880-1967). Keep ChaCha-ing!

Pilates was developed in the 20th century by Joseph Pilates in Germany. More than 11 million people practice Pilates in the United States as of 2005.
