School closing days differ in each state. Some New York City schools close on Jewish holidays, because so many of the students are Jewish. In Illinois, many schools close for Pulaski Day, which is not celebrated in other states. Rules about school closings due to weather also differ by state and even by school district. Usually local TV and Radio stations have the most up to date information on school closings.
