Seattle is named after Chief Sealth ''Seattle'' of the Duwamish and Suquamish native tribes. The city's population is around 609,000 residents. Seattle is the birthplace of the rock music style ''grunge,'' with local bands being Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana and Alice in Chains. The Port of Seattle is the 8th largest port int he United States, being a major port for trade with Asia.
About Alaska
Alaska is the largest state in the United States; it is bordered by Canada, the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and Russia across the Bering Strait. The climate in Alaska is an oceanic climate in the southern panhandle with a subarctic oceanic climate in the northern part of the state. The panhandle typically is the warmest and wettest part of Alaska. You will most likely find temperatures in the winter above freezing in this part of the state, which is unlikely in the rest.
