Patriot Day is a US holiday held on September 11 of each year. It commemorates the 2,997 victims of the terrorist attack on the US on 9/11/2001. An act of Congress made it a legal holiday and President George W. Bush signed it into law 12/18/2001.

About September 11th
September 11, 2001 was the day that the United States was subjected to an attack by Al-Qaeda, a foreign terrorist group. The World Trade Center and the Pentagon were both hit by hijacked airplanes, and another airplane that was destined for the White House was brought down by civilians in a field in Pennsylvania. A remembrance tower for the thousands of missing and dead has been built on the space where the twin towers once stood.
