Is the band Slipknot breaking up?
The band Slipknot formed in 1995. They are not broken up, but on hiatus so the band members can pursue solo projects for awhile. Paul Dedrick Gray was the bassist but he passed away in May or 2010 of an accidental overdose.

A band is a group of musicians performing together. An orchestra is just a large band. Bands are usually more informally organized, although in the early 20th century the 'big band' was a familiar concept.
