About Cloud Gate
Cloud Gate, nicknamed ''The Bean,'' is a sculpture in Millennium Park that is located in Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture is made by British artist Anish Kapoor and was constructed between 2004 and 2006. It is made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, but its exterior has a polished finish with no visible seams. The design was inspired by liquid mercury.
About Millennium Park
Millennium Park is a public park in Chicago, Illinois. It is a portion of the larger Grant Park and has four main artistic highlights: the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Cloud Gate, the Crown Fountain and the Lurie Garden. Millennium Park opened on July 16, 2004. It is considered the world's largest rooftop garden since it sits atop a parking garage and commuter rail.
