Scientology is a set of beliefs and practices created and founded by L. Ron Hubbard (1911-1986) starting in 1952 as a successor to his original self-help system 'Dianetics.' Hubbard donned the practices a religion and in 1953 he incorporated the Church of Scientology in Camden, New Jersey. Today there are more than 9,000 churches, missions, and affiliated groups in 165 countries.
