Easter Bunny The Easter Bunny's originated in pre-Christian, pagan Germanic culture as one of the symbols of Eostre, a goddess of fertility and of the dawn. There was a yearly feast held in her honor on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox, which coincides with the day of the Resurrection of Christ; this was used to help incorporate the cultures of native peoples when being converted to Christianity.
