Is the Windows operating system going away?
Windows 8, the successor to Windows 7, is currently in development. Microsoft posted a blog entry in Dutch on October 22, 2010 hinting that Windows 8 would be released in 2 years.

Windows 8 is an upcoming new version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It adds a new touchscreen interface with a Windows Phone styled layout. Many expect Windows 8 to release at CES 2012.

Windows 7 is a MicroSoft Windows operating system that was released three years after the release of MicroSoft's highly criticized Windows Vista. It sought to address many of the issues that users had with Vista, and was fairly successful in that effort.
