In Maine, possession of less than 2.5 ounces is a civil violation, punishable by a fine of $200 - $400. Possession of 2.5 ounces or more is considered evidence of intent to distribute and is punished as such. Possession of greater than one pound of marijuana is considered trafficking and is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. ChaCha on!
