WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, is owned by Vince McMahon and is the world's largest professional wrestling organization. McMahon's vision was to make the WWE and the industry itself mainstream, targeting more of the general television audience by exploiting the entertainment side of the industry, The WWE was the first promotion to admit that wrestling was fake. The launch of WrestleMania in 1985 helped him accomplish that goal. Today the name WWE is synonymous with professional wrestling.
