Mormons are a religious and cultural group related to Mormonism, a Christian religious movement beginning with the visions of founder Joseph Smith in upstate New York during the 1820s. Most Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Mormons believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Central to Mormon faith is the belief that God speaks to his children and answers their prayers. The President of the LDS is viewed as a prophet.
