A peck is not a count, like a dozen. It's a unit of volume. A peck is a quarter of a bushel, or 2 dry gallons, or 8 dry quarts.
A peck is not a count, like a dozen. It's a unit of volume. A peck is 9.31 quarts. But Peter Piper picked one peck!
Peter Piper picked one peck, or 2 gallons, 8 quarts, or 1/4 bushel of pickled peppers. Pretty pointless. ChaCha
Peck (n.) - A considerable amount. Peter Piper picked a considerable amount of pickled peppers! ChaCha!
Peter could not have "picked" a peck of PICKLED peppers because the peppers had to have been jarred already in order to be pickled. Unless the original version was Peter Piper picked a peck of PICKLING peppers. He did not PICK any peppers. :)
