Similarities between ROTH and 401(k)'s?
In general, the difference between a Roth 401(k) and a traditional 401(k) is that the Roth version is funded with after-tax dollars while the traditional 401(k) is funded with pre-tax dollars. After-tax dollars represent money for which taxes are paid in the current year, and pre-tax dollars are those that do not represent federal taxable income in the current year.

About 401k
A 401K plan enables employees to save money for retirement in a tax free fashion until the money is withdrawn from the account upon the acceptable retirement age. The funds in the account can be invested in different stocks, bonds, mutual funds or other assets. This was created by Congress in 1981 and is named 401k due to the section of the Internal Revenue Code that describes it.
