The U.S. Open was played at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland from 6/13/11 through 6/19/11. Rory McIlroy from N. Ireland won the competition with a score of 268 with -16 to par. Jason Day (Australia) came in 2nd with -8 to par; Kevin Chappell (USA), Robert Garrigus (USA) and Lee Westwood (England) all tied for 3rd with -6 to par. Stay tuned 4 next year's eventful U.S Open! About US Open
The U.S. Open Golf Championship is the open golf tournament of the U.S., hosted annually by the USGA. The tournament is played in mid-June and if there are no weather delays the final round is held on Fathers Day. A U.S. Open course is usually long, with a high cut of open rough. It is also usually full of hilly greens and puts a premium on accurate driving.
