The Vietnam War was a conflict-turned-war that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from Nov. 1, 1955 and ended on April 30, 1975. It was a bloody struggle between nationalist forces attempting to unify the country of Vietnam under a communist government and the United States (with the aid of the South Vietnamese) attempting to prevent the spread of communism.
