About MLB
Major League Baseball (MLB): Major League Baseball is the organization that operates the National League and the American League, Each league is further subdivided into three divisions, labeled East, Central, and West.
About Minor League Baseball
Not every professional player is ready to go to the Show immediately upon getting picked up by a team. That's where the minor league system comes in. Minor League Baseball is divided into A, Double A, and Triple A divisions. Typically players will work there way up from single-A to triple before going to the Majors, but it is not unheard of for a double-A player to get a shot as well.
