Was Thaddeus Stevens right that not giving the liberated slaves their own land doomed them to being second class citizens?
Stevens was most closely identified during Reconstruction with his plan for the division of planters' land among the former slaves, which, he insisted, would make them "small independent landholders, in my opinion he was right. ChaCha on!!
