The nuclear arms race was central to the Cold War. Many feared where the Cold War was going with the belief that the more nuclear weapons you had, the more powerful you were. Both America and Russia massively built up their stockpiles of nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Weapons are explosive devices that create a devastating amount of force through nuclear reactions. While many have been tested, only two nuclear devices have ever been used in the history of warfare. Both of the bombs were dropped on Japan by the United States during World War II.
