The United Nations, or UN, is an organization with representatives from every nation on earth, formed in 1945 after WWII. The primary purpose of the UN is to be a place where countries can work out problems and differences before they lead to war. The UN also functions as a platform for international dialogue on Human Rights, International Trade, and International Law.
