What agency was created after September 11th?
The Transportation Security Administration, created after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, was intended to be a lean agency with flexibility to respond quickly to threats to various modes of transportation. TSA serves as the operator, administrator and regulator for the nation’s transportation security.

About September 11th
September 11, 2001 was the day that the United States was subjected to an attack by Al-Qaeda, a foreign terrorist group. The World Trade Center and the Pentagon were both hit by hijacked airplanes, and another airplane that was destined for the White House was brought down by civilians in a field in Pennsylvania. A remembrance tower for the thousands of missing and dead has been built on the space where the twin towers once stood.

Headquartered in the Pentagon, TSA is responsible for the safety and security of the traveling public in the United States.
