Michigan is a state in the Great Lakes region of the United States that consists of two peninsulas. The Straits of Mackinac separates the upper and lower peninsulas and joins together Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The Upper Peninsula is bordered to the north by Lake Superior and Canada, to the west by Minnesota, to the south by Wisconsin and Lake Michigan and to the east by Lake Huron and Canada.
