About Kentucky Derby

Known as the 'Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports', the Kentucky Derby is a high stakes race for 3 year old thoroughbred horses. Held on the first Saturday in May, the Derby is the culmination of the two week long Kentucky Derby Festival. The race and festival are held in Louisville, Kentucky at Churchill Downs. The horses race around the 1.25 mile track to see who gets to go to the Winner's Circle.

The Derby isn't just about horse racing though. Spectators mill about,  drinking mint juleps, while the ladies in attendance wear fine outfits lavishly accessorized with large, elaborate hats.  The event draws upwards of 150,000 fans many of which show up in the infield to party with abandon. Or if you're one of the lucky few, you can sit in "Millionaire's Row" - expensive box seats that attract the rich, the famous and the well-connected.
