What does ESPN stands for?

Rate This Answer

When ESPN started in 1979 it was the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (thus, ESPN). However, that name took too long to paint across our chests on game day, so we dropped it in 1985 and adopted a new name -- ESPN, Inc.-- and a new logo.

When it was founded in 1979, it was called the Entertainment & Sports Programming Network, hence, ESPN. However, in 1985, the full name was dropped and they took on ESPN, Inc. as their corporate name. Thanks for using ChaCha!
