What is a tsunami?
A tsunami is a series of waves that are a result of movement under the water. Earthquakes, volacanos, large explosions, and landslides can cause tsunamis. In the open ocean they can be only a couple inches tall but really wide and then when it approaches land it becomes much taller and less wide. Unlike other waves, tsunami waves typically do not curl and break. A large tsunami can flood low-lying coastal land over a mile from the coast. It means run for high ground!
