The word 'anonymous' refers to someone or something whose identity is unknown. Using 'anonymous' in place of a name is often done to protect the identity of a person. Sometimes works of art, music and literature are created by an anonymous author. Anonymous is also the name of an online group of hackers. The internet group has members from all around the world. The members of this group use numerous websites, internet forums, and software tools to accomplish one loosely defined objective: to expose powerful interests to public scrutiny.
