Attention Deficit Disorder is a mental health condition, not a disease, that causes inattention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. ADD always starts in early childhood, but in some cases is not diagnosed until later in life. Signs include trouble focusing, impulsivity and frequent mood swings. Treatment consists of therapy & medication.

ADHD is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination. (ADD is the same problem without the hyperactivity factor). For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out of the normal range for the child's age.
