What is cause effect inference?

Topics: SciencePolitics

Answer

Martin Jenkins

Inference is the reasoning involved in drawing a conclusion or making a logical judgment on the basis of circumstantial evidence and prior conclusions rather than on the basis of direct observation. Here is an example of how inference relates to cause and effect: One cannot rewind history and replay events after making small controlled changes, causation can only be inferred, never exactly known.
