What is Flag Day?

Rate This Answer

Flag Day Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, though in 1937, PA was the 1st (and only) state to celebrate it as a state holiday. During National Flag Week, the president issues a proclamation urging citizens to fly the American flag for that week. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the U.S. flag on June 14th by resolution of the 2nd Continental Congress. Falls on April 14th. In 2011, it is on Tuesday, June 14 and for 2012 on Thursday, June 14.
