What is supernova?
A supernova is a stellar explosion that is more energetic than a nova. Supernovae are extremely luminous and cause a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy, before fading from view over several weeks or months. ChaCha On!

About Supernova
A supernova is a gigantic explosion which produces a burst of radiation that expels most or all of a star's material. The astronomical event occurs when the gravitational force of a star surpasses the Chandrasekhar limit or in a number of other ways. Approximately one supernova occurs in the Milky Way galaxy every 50 years.
