What is the difference between the definition of a condominium and an apartment one owns?
Usually you own a condo, but rent an apartment. If you own your apartment, then legally there is no difference from a condo.

About Apartment
An apartment is a part of a building or house converted to provide a complete living space. An apartment normally offers everything a traditional home would, including a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, but in a more limited layout. A 'studio apartment' is an apartment in which the living room also serves as the bedroom and kitchen.
