The Two Main Taoist Texts: The Tao Te Ching and Chuang Tzu. The Tao Te Ching (pronounced dow day jing),or "The Scripture of the Way and its Efficacy", is accredited Lao Tzu. It was written around 475-221 BCE. It is the foundational text of Taoism. It contains many proverbs and paradoxical statements. The Chuang Tzu (jwahng zoo), or "Master Chuang", is thought to possibly have been written by Chuang Tzu also around 475-221 BCE. It contains stories and anectdotes and philosophy.
