What part of speech is the word they?

Rate This Answer

Word Traditional grammar classifies words based on eight parts of speech: the verb, the noun, the pronoun, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection. I can't say for sure which one of these is the worst, but one of the lesser well known ones is probably the interjection, which is a word added to a sentence to convey emotion. For instance, in the sentence "Ouch, that hurt!", ouch is the interjection. ChaCha!
